Sheffield,  May 25, 2023 - Boeing (NYSA: BA) welcomed 15 UK suppliers, including small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to a unique training event aimed at helping suppliers enhance their competitiveness and capability.

Hosted in Sheffield - home of Boeing’s first European manufacturing facility - the programme included shared insights on the aerospace industry and Boeing programmes, along with workshops on bid training.

The event was also a chance to share future potential opportunities for collaboration with Boeing across its global programmes. Boeing has spent more than £12bn in the UK supply chain since 2015.

“These events highlight our commitment to strengthening the UK supply chain and creating opportunities across Boeing’s global portfolio”, said Maria Laine, President of Boeing in the UK, Ireland and Nordic region. “As a key international market for Boeing supply chain spend, we recognise and are already reaping the benefits of the skills and expertise here in the UK. We are also committed to helping companies strengthen their competitiveness when bidding for opportunities in the wider industry.”

Attendees at the event included current and prospective suppliers from regions across the UK including South Yorkshire, Northern Ireland and Wales, along with a start-up from the Aerospace Xelerated programme, which has featured 22 UK-based companies since launching in 2020.

Attendee Mark Roberts from HSM Engineering Ltd, based in Nottingham, said: “Events like this not only help us better understand how we can do business with Boeing but how we can be successful across the wider aerospace industry. It was invaluable to hear from the Boeing team about their commitment to the UK supply chain at all levels.”
